Martha Tijerina receives honor from S.A. Hispanic Chamber

SAAHJ is proud to announce that our long-time member and tri-chair of our Scholarship and Awards Gala Committee, Martha Tijerina, will receive The Barbara Gentry Advocacy Award at the 5th Annual Women’s Awards hosted by the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

The 5th Annual Women’s Awards Luncheon: Making a Mark on the World takes place on Tuesday, October 14 at the Omni San Antonio Hotel at the Colonnade.  The awards luncheon recognizes the contributions of women in the San Antonio community who are unsung heroes and trailblazers setting the path for the next generation of young women.

Martha was honored by SAAHJ with the organization’s Henry Guerra Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010. The award, named for San Antonio broadcast pioneer, community leader and local historian, Henry Guerra, recognizes individuals from the San Antonio or South Texas area who are distinguished in the field of journalism. Recipients have contributed to improving and enlightening the community at large and effected change for the betterment of the Hispanic community.
