Maddy Mendoza announced Monday that she is leaving her position as Food and Culture Editor of MySA. She has accepted a position as a reporter for Axios.
Axios is set to launch soon in San Antonio under the leadership of news veteran and fellow SAAHJ member Jamie Stockwell, who most recently served as deputy national editor at the New York Times and was previously managing editor of the San Antonio Express-News.
The San Antonio Express-News is where Mendoza started her career eight years ago after graduating with a journalism degree from the University of the Incarnate Word. She’s cultivated local sources and was one of the city’s biggest social media influencers – before that was even a thing. But more than that, Mendoza has done us proud for centering stories on our Latinx community and telling stories like no one else can.
