Come one, come all to the celebration of the year! This year’s theme, “Stories that Ignite Change,” is especially fitting because, now more than ever, storytelling has the power to shape our world and spark progress. For over 35 years, the SAAHJ has been committed to supporting the next generation of storytellers who are driving change in media and communications.

Location: Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, 100 Auditorium Circle, San Antonio, TX 78205
Attire: Black tie optional. Most guests wear cocktail or formal attire.
This year, guests are encouraged to wear black & gold to tie into the theme!

ABOUT THE GALA
The SAAHJ Scholarship & Awards Gala has become one of the most anticipated events of the year, bringing together San Antonio’s media and communications professionals who use their voices to inspire action. During the celebration, SAAHJ will honor the scholarship recipients, as well, the Henry Guerra Lifetime Achievement Award, the Corazon de Oro, and the Community Service honors will be awarded.
The doors will open at 6 PM for check-in and a reception in the Tobin Center’s beautiful lobby. The program will begin at 7 PM and will last until 8:30 PM. Afterwards, there will be entertainment provided for all guests to enjoy until 10 PM.
ABOUT THE AWARDS
SAAHJ will celebrate all the 2025 scholarship recipients and special award winners during this festive evening.
This year, SAAHJ will award the Henry Guerra Lifetime Achievement Award to Jerry Lara, longtime photographer for the San Antonio Express-News whose lens captured major news events in San Antonio, Texas, Mexico and Central America. SAAHJ will honor the Esperanza Peace & Justice Center with the Community Service Award, for their longtime commitment to West Side historic preservation, cultural pride and civic engagement The Corazón de Oro Award will be announced soon.
