Dear SAAHJ members, friends and gala committee members:
Save the date! SAAHJ’s 20th annual Scholarship & Awards Gala will be Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, at the Grand Hyatt.
For this landmark year when the city will be celebrating its tricentennial, our goal is to create an unforgettable event to mark two decades of SAAHJ’s history, scholars and honorees.
We need as many of you to join us on the gala committee as possible. We need a wide variety of talents and skills in networking, organizing, brainstorming, fundraising and overall hard workers.
So, please join us Saturday, Nov. 18, at 10 a.m. for the first gathering of the gala committee at Lisa’s Mexican Restaurant.
It promises to be a festive event in which we meet one another, get reacquainted and raise a glass to the start of our project. You’ll hear a brief introduction from gala chairs about the duties of all our gala subcommittees and hear from you what you’d like to do.
The tasks before us are great and include reaching out to old sponsors and new ones; table sales and phone banking; after party planning; marketing and public relations; individual ticket sales; script-writing and on-site gala oversight; gala guest registration and overseeing on-site volunteers; videos; entertainment; raffle; and goodie bag/guest gift selections.
We won’t lie, it’s a lot of this work and old-fashion sweat equity, but the results will be worth it. Please join us, and let us know if you have any questions before the event.
